How long does it last? 

Filler placed in the tear troughs/under-eye area can last 12 months or more.  

 

What to expect? 

Swelling, soreness, bruising, and asymmetry after your treatment is normal throughout the healing process. Tear trough filler takes 3-4 weeks to settle completely. It is unrealistic to expect no bruising after your injectables appointment or to ask how much you will bruise. Everyone bruises and heals differently. 

 

Am I a good candidate for tear trough/under-eye filler? 

If you have volume loss and hollowing, this treatment is for you. If you have protruding under-eye fat pads, significant loss of skin elasticity, or suffer from allergies you may not be a candidate for this procedure. In order to determine if you are a good candidate, please schedule a consultation.  

 

Before & Aftercare? 

Before your appointment, it is very important that you avoid blood thinners for at least one week. Avoiding blood thinners such as ibuprofen, aspirin, naproxen, St. John’s Wort, ginger, garlic, ginkgo biloba, vitamin A, vitamin E, Omega-3 fatty acids (fish oils), and other anti-inflammatory medications will help decrease the amount of bruising after your procedure. Please avoid any alcohol intake for at least 24-hours prior and after your appointment to help decrease the amount of bruising.  

 

After your tear trough/under-eye filler treatment, it is important that you avoid touching, massaging, or applying makeup for 6 hours after. Using Arnica, bromelain or consuming pineapple (if not allergic) helps increase faster healing time due to its anti-inflammatory effects and helping heal bruises faster. If you experience severe weather or dramatic atmospheric pressure changes please be aware that you may experience greater than normal swelling. To avoid additional swelling, sleep with head elevated for 2-4 days after treatment and take daily over-the-counter allergy medication for 2-4 days.
